Walking to school

Stonecross: the lack of school places in central St Albans has meant an increase in the number of people taking very small children from the Carlisle Avenue area to schools in Marshalswick. This involves crossing the Stonecross – a very complex junction. Highways officials have sureyed the area and spoken to schools and parents: they conclude that the best place to cross is at Harpenden Road ie not using the island. A crossing patrol is being advertised via local schools.
