County admit crossover backlog

In preparation for the transition to the new highways contracts, we stopped processing new VXO applications between May and October 2012.

As a result of this, we now have a backlog of 500 applications. The applications that are pending are at various stages of the process. For new applications, it is estimated that initial assessment will take up to eight weeks. For those pending, construction is likely to take up to 12 weeks from receipt of payment.

These revised timescales are necessary to deal with the backlog and we are working hard with Ringway to reduce the delays and the length of time that the new timescales will need to be in place. We will revert to usual timescales once the backlog is cleared.

Those customers who are currently waiting for assessments or constructions will be given priority over new applications. We will apologise to all those customers who are still waiting and advise them of the new timetable. The information on our website has been updated to explain the current position and to advise new applicants of the expected timescales.
