It started with an idea…

And the idea was to unite the musical community with the St Albans public in a BIG way. Here’s the thing: St Albans has A LOT of talented musicians. You may have heard of some of them, but there are many who have yet to be discovered, not just by the music-listening public but also by their own community. St Albans Calling seeks to transform that.

We’re a collective of artists who have joined forces to produce an album of original songs, all inspired by our experiences of living in St Albans. St Albans is a great city, and it’s also one of the UK’s best-kept secrets. Rich in history, talent and community spirit, it’s a place where we all enjoy living, and we thought it was time to celebrate it by coming together to put on a show.

The artists participating in this album represent a wide cross-section of the community. They come from all age groups, musical influences and backgrounds. Most have day jobs but find time to write songs and perform where possible to keep alive their true passion – music.

To support our community, we’ve chosen to donate all proceeds of the sale of this album to five local charities, including Crohns & Colitis UK, Earthworks, Emmaus, St Albans Bereavement Network and St Albans Special Olympics.

This is where it starts, but this is certainly not where it will end. St Albans Calling Volume 2 is already in the pipeline. Watch this space, and in the meantime, we hope you enjoy what you hear.
