Snow chaos again: update from St Albans District Council

Well done to everyone that made it in Friday and today and a special thank you to the markets team for getting set up in awful conditions over the weekend.

We anticipate today being a normal working day unless there is a bad turn in the weather later. There is a weather warning for this afternoon for a band covering Hertfordshire and we are watching carefully.

Chief Exec’s board plus other relevant people met this morning to review our position. We will also be meeting tomorrow and Wednesday to review things and to make sure we are as prepared as possible for the holiday break.

At present we are managing to run a full range of services but on a limited or skeleton basis in some places, including catching up on refuse collections from last week where we can. This is not yet possible in some of the hillier narrower routes. We are encouraging everyone to use the web page as an easy source of information as we are dealing with a lot of phone calls at the moment.
