Last night there were no trains north after 6.30 pm – one resident paid £90 to get a taxi back from Farringdon. This morning, the 0750 was cancelled with passengers on it because there was no driver. The scene at St Albans has been described as chaos.
Why has their franchise not been removed?
If FCC didn’t run the last train, they must reimburse the passenger for the taxi fare. In fact, they should have actually arranged for the taxi in the first place so there would have been nothing to pay on the night.
I suggest that the resident sends the taxi receipt (and a copy of the train ticket/season) to FCC and explains the situation. I can see that all services were indeed cancelled in the evening – so it shouldn’t be a problem as long as the shutdown hadn’t been advertised well in advance.
