Nominate your favourite food or drink venue for St Albans Food and Drink Awards

Residents have the opportunity to nominate their favourite restaurant, bar, pub, café, producer or shop for an award as part of the St Albans Food and Drink Festival 2011.

Nominations open on 1 August for the awards which are organised by St Albans City and District Council and are designed to celebrate the variety of local eateries, hostelries and food and drink producers in the District.

The St Albans Food and Drink Awards form part of the St Albans Food and Drink Festival 2011. Many pubs, restaurants and hotels will be staging gastronomic events and offering discounts during the festival which runs from 28th September to 9th October 2011 and is also organised by the Council.

The winners of last year’s awards were as follows:

Best Restaurant – Lussmanns
Best Café – The Secret Garden Café
Best Pub – Mermaid
Best Bar – The Peahen
Local Gem – Heaven is a Cupcake
Family Friendly – The Gingerbread Man
Kate D’Arcy Award for Exceptional Customer Service – Charlie Powell of Soko Coffee

A new category of Best Local Producer has been added for the 2011 awards to provide recognition for some of the fantastic and delicious products made here in the District.

Nominations for all the awards categories can be made online at www.stalbansfoodanddrink.com from 1st August until 5pm on 31st August.

A shortlist will then be drawn up and the public will be invited to vote for their favourites from 15th September. The winners will be announced at an Awards Ceremony on 6th October.
