ADVANCE NOTIFICATION OF CARRIAGEWAY RESURFACING WORKS
INFORMATION BULLETIN No.1
Issued on 22nd January 2009

A1057 Hatfield Road – Between Station Way and Beaconsfield/Lemsford Road
In February the A1057 Hatfield Road between Station Way and Lemsford Road is to be re-surfaced as part of Hertfordshire Highways’ programme for maintenance of the strategic road network. The works will commence on the Monday 1st February and will last for approximately 4 days, weather permitting.

A return visit will be required approximately 2 weeks after the main body of works to complete the high friction surfacing.

The works will involve re-surfacing the existing worn out carriageway, renewing the existing road markings, road studs and high friction surfacing, re-cutting the traffic signal loops and cleaning the existing drainage system.

To minimise inconvenience to road users, residents and businesses alike, we have agreed with the police to carry out these works during the day (09.30hrs – 16:00hrs) using a road closure of the A1057 Hatfield Road (between the junction with Station Way and junction with Beaconsfield Road/Lemsford Road (approximately 130m)).

Beaconsfield Road and Lemsford Road will also be closed at their junctions with Hatfield Road.

Access to residents and businesses within the road closure will be maintained. All through traffic will be required to follow the signed diversion route as set out below. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Main diversion route:
A1057 Hatfield Road, A1081 St Peter’s Street, B691 (Victoria Street, Grimston Road, Stanhope Road), Camp Road, A1057 Hatfield Road and vice versa

Lemsford Road diversion route:
Lemsford Road, Sandpit Lane, B651 Stone Cross, A1081 St Peter’s Street and continue on the main diversion route.

Beaconsfield Road diversion route:
Beaconsfield Road exiting onto the B691 Victoria Street continuing on the main diversion.

Bus services may be affected by this road closure – details of any changes will be posted at your local bus stop.  Alternatively, you can visit www.intalink.org.uk – where you can find out further details by visiting the ‘News/Service updates section and clicking on ‘service disruption’.

Some degree of disruption and delay can be expected as a result of the works and we will make every effort to minimise these. Please allow extra time for any journeys you may make while the works are in progress. We greatly appreciate your patience and co-operation.
Further information bulletins will be issued if necessary, giving additional information and advising on the progress of the works.

Herts Highways or its contractors will not approach you offering to carry out works to your property. Any cold calling of this nature by people claiming to represent Herts Highways should be viewed with suspicion, and caution. They will not have Herts Highways’ authority or approval.
