Hightown seeks views on new homes at college site

Local residents and other interested parties are being invited to comment on mixed private and affordable housing proposals to replace the rest of Oaklands city centre campus when the college moves to Smallford next year.

An exhibition is being held by Hightown Praetorian & Churches Housing Association, on Thursday 10th November, between 3.30 pm and 7.30 pm in the refectory of the College’s main block in St Peters Road. It will show various sketch schemes to replace the college buildings with around 100 flats.

George Edkins, Development Director for Hightown explains: “There is a huge need for homes for local people in St Albans. There are a number of ways the site could be developed and we’d like to hear what people prefer, before we take any of these sketch schemes further. We want to listen to local people who may be concerned about traffic or parking or the street scene.”

The scheme will also be subject to the normal planning consultation process.
